A quote that covers the groceries can still leave you working for less than your assistant makes. This workbook builds the quote and then checks it.

What it does

• Rate calculator. Enter the take-home pay you want, your overhead, a tax rate and your billable hours. It gives you the lowest hourly rate that covers it.
• Dish costing. Cost up to 100 dishes per serving, from full recipes or from a number you already know.
• Event quote builder. Enter the guest count, pick up to ten dishes, and estimate your hours for planning, shopping, cooking and cleanup. Add assistants, mileage, rentals, a discount and sales tax if you charge it.
• The numbers a client needs. Total, price per guest, deposit and balance due.
• The numbers you need. Your out-of-pocket costs, profit margin and what you'd really make per hour, with a verdict: good job to take, or reprice.
• Three options to offer. The same quote as a lighter, standard and upgraded package, so the client picks between your prices instead of haggling over one.
• Meal prep pricing. Price up to ten weekly packages side by side, with the weekly price, monthly price and price per serving.
